The Direct Support Professional (DSP) cares for intellectually disabled adults while at Peak Performance Training Centers, Inc. adult day program and/or out in the community at volunteer sites. Direct Support Professionals are responsible for promoting the mission of PPTC to assist individuals achieve a more independent and fulfilling life by engaging them in age appropriateness meaningful activities that promote dignity and respect.

Personal skills to succeed:

The Direct Support Professionals (DSP) must be energetic, resourceful, and align with the company’s CORE VALUES, which are about being: compassionate, accountable, honest, emotionally intelligent, and willingness to learn.

Specific Duties:

Assists with daily activities at individual’s day program or while out in the community.
Provide care and supervision throughout the day up until client departure from facility.
Performs tasks including but not limited to assisting in training in areas of; toileting, feeding, doing laundry, microwaving meals, washing dishes, cleaning, dressing, etc.
Assist clients up and down stairs, in and out of doors, transferring to and from seating etc.
Accompanies ambulatory and non-ambulatory clients to and from; transportation, restroom, dining area, outdoors, in doors, throughout the facility when needed.
Review client’s functional skills level, and establish their needs and supports.
Provide clients with supports necessary to meet their objectives. While effectively plan programming activities based on clients objectives.
Assist and train clients in reading, talking, writing, and listening skills.
Complete data collection on a daily basis for each client, reflecting progress, troubled areas, additional support and other related information.
Notify supervisor about status/health of individual being cared for.
Under the direction of the supervisor prepare the client/s monthly activity calendar identifying the objectives and choice activities including community integration activities.
Performs all other duties as directed by management.

Must haves:

High School Certificate or GED equivalent
Must have reliable transportation
Maintain good driving record and updated vehicle insurance
Valid California Driver’s License
Must be able to clear background check
Must maintain a criminal free background clearance
Must have Pre-employment health screen and T.B. clearance
Must have CPR, First Aid Certification upon 30-days of hire
Must obtain a Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certificate within the 1st year
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
General computer (MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint) and writing skills required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
