Community Day Services (CDS) Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Los Angeles County
Part-Time | Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

About Us

iWork Support Services is a person-centered organization providing services to adults with developmental disabilities throughout Los Angeles County. Our mission is to empower individuals to live more independent, meaningful, and community-integrated lives through compassionate, individualized support.

We are currently seeking a reliable, compassionate, and motivated Community Day Services (CDS) Direct Support Professional to provide support to adults with developmental disabilities participating in our Community Day Services (531) program, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, energetic, and passionate about helping individuals build independence, develop life skills, and actively participate in their communities.

Position Summary

The Community Day Services Direct Support Professional provides direct support to adults with developmental disabilities in community-based environments through meaningful activities that promote independence, socialization, skill development, recreation, health and wellness, volunteer opportunities, and community inclusion.

This position focuses on teaching and supporting participants while encouraging self-confidence, personal choice, and independence using a person-centered approach.

Duties

Provide direct support to individuals participating in Community Day Services.
Assist participants with community integration and meaningful community activities.
Support individuals in developing daily living, communication, and social skills.
Facilitate recreational, educational, and volunteer activities within the community.
Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and informed decision-making.
Assist participants in achieving goals identified in their Individual Program Plan (IPP).
Transport participants safely to and from community activities as needed.
Maintain participant safety while promoting dignity, respect, and inclusion.
Complete daily service notes and required documentation accurately and on time.
Collect data on participant progress toward individualized goals.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Follow all Title 17, Regional Center, and agency policies and procedures.
Collaborate with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality services.
Foster a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.

Requirements

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
Compassionate, dependable, patient, and professional demeanor.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Reliable transportation.
Valid California driver's license with proof of insurance.
Clean driving record.
Ability to work independently and in community settings.
Ability to safely transport participants in the community.
Must successfully pass DOJ Live Scan clearance.
CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Ability to lift, bend, walk, and participate in community activities throughout the workday.

Preferred Experience

Experience working with Regional Center consumers.
Experience in Community Day Services (CDS), Tailored Day Services (TDS), Independent Living Services (ILS), Supported Living Services (SLS), or similar human services programs.
Knowledge of person-centered planning and positive behavior support practices.
Experience facilitating community-based activities and teaching independent living skills.
