About TTFB & Very Thai

TTFB Group is an international restaurant group founded in Taiwan in 1990. In the U.S., TTFB operates Very Thai at Westfield Century City and BOBO Thai in Silver Lake.

Very Thai brings contemporary Thai flavors to Los Angeles with a menu that relies heavily on high-heat wok cooking, fresh ingredients, and consistent execution. As TTFB continues to grow in the U.S., we are building a strong culinary team with opportunities for long-term growth.

About the Role

Very Thai is hiring an experienced Wok Chef to operate a high-heat wok station in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Professional wok cooking experience is required for this position. We are specifically looking for candidates who have worked a commercial wok station and are comfortable with high-heat cooking, heat control, timing, seasoning, and executing multiple wok orders during service.

Candidates without professional wok station experience will not be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Independently operate and manage the wok station during service.
Prepare and cook menu items using high-heat wok techniques, including stir-frying and sautéing.
Maintain proper heat control, timing, seasoning, texture, and ingredient sequencing.
Execute multiple wok orders efficiently during high-volume service while maintaining quality and consistency.
Follow standardized recipes, portion sizes, plating, and brand specifications.
Prepare and organize mise en place before service and keep the wok station stocked throughout the shift.
Coordinate closely with other kitchen stations to maintain accurate ticket timing and order flow.
Monitor ingredients and communicate prep or restocking needs to kitchen leadership.
Follow proper procedures for allergies and special requests.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards.
Properly operate, clean, and maintain wok equipment and station tools.
Report equipment issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns promptly.
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned based on operational needs.

Required Qualifications

Professional experience working a commercial wok station is required.
Strong understanding of high-heat wok cooking, including heat management, timing, ingredient sequencing, and seasoning.
Ability to independently manage multiple wok tickets during busy service.
Experience in a Chinese, Thai, or other Asian kitchen with significant wok cooking experience.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Strong attention to consistency, quality, and portion control.
Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen safety standards.
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Mandarin-speaking skills are a plus.
Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
