Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Group Facilitator to lead engaging group therapy sessions and support programs within our behavioral health and mental health services. This role is vital in fostering a safe, supportive environment where individuals can explore their challenges, develop coping strategies, and achieve personal growth. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, strong communication skills, and a deep commitment to patient-centered care. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of diverse populations, including children, families, and adults experiencing mental health or behavioral issues.

Duties

Facilitate group therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) to promote positive change.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and intake evaluations to tailor group interventions effectively.
Implement crisis intervention strategies when necessary, ensuring safety and stability for all participants.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, clinicians, and medical staff—to coordinate care plans and share relevant medical documentation while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Maintain accurate medical records, document patient progress, and ensure compliance with ICD-9, ICD-10 coding standards for diagnostic evaluation.
Lead discussions on topics such as addiction counseling, PTSD care, and mental health management to foster understanding and resilience.
Collect data for research purposes, track outcomes, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within behavioral health programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in psychotherapy or clinical counseling are preferred.
Proven experience in group therapy facilitation within home & community care settings or hospital environments.
Strong knowledge of crisis management techniques and behavioral health interventions including motivational interviewing and case management.
Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, CPT coding, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), and HIPAA compliance requirements.
Skilled in patient assessment, intake procedures, addiction counseling, and diagnostic evaluation processes.
Experience with trauma-informed care approaches such as PTSD treatment strategies is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse populations across age groups—children & families included—and foster a supportive environment for recovery.
