Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Green Infrastructure / Urban Forestry Industry Academy Supervisor (GI Academy Supervisor) executes the day-to-day operations of all Green Stormwater Infrastructure and urban forestry installation and maintenance projects assigned to the Green Infrastructure crew. The GI Academy Supervisor plans, assigns, supervises, documents, and participates in the work of the Green Infrastructure Fellows Crew, including the management and oversight of crew members, their daily tasks, and assigned work orders. This position reports to the Green Corps Program Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Industry Academy Supervisor is responsible for the following:

Crew Supervision and Development

Supervise, direct, and evaluate members of the Green Infrastructure Fellows Crew.
Lead onboarding, training, performance evaluation, timesheet review, critical feedback, and corrective action for Green Infrastructure Fellows.
Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures, including attendance, timeliness, conduct, professionalism, and work ethic.
Participate in the crew selection process.
Collaborate across the organization to support Fellows in identifying and pursuing their next career steps.

Project Planning and Execution

Plan, assign, supervise, document, and participate in the daily work of the Green Infrastructure Fellows Crew.
Coordinate with New Orleans city departments and partner organizations on work orders and special project priorities.
Manage the quality of work produced by the crew.
Record and submit the data required to complete assigned work orders.

Safety, Equipment, and Vehicles

Promote a culture of safety and professional work practices at every job site.
Operate assigned vehicles, equipment, and hand and power tools safely and professionally.
Conduct or coordinate regular vehicle, equipment, and tool maintenance and inventory.

Organizational Support

Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Attend program, staff, and community meetings and outreach events as required.
Perform other duties as requested, such as light carpentry or building maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, urban forestry, landcare, or green stormwater infrastructure maintenance, AND thirty (30) credits from an accredited college, university, or training program in nursery, grounds maintenance, arboriculture, landscape design, or a related field.
OR three (3) or more years of experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, urban forestry, landcare, or green stormwater infrastructure maintenance.
Experience managing a team.
Experience with vocational education or youth workforce development (preferred).

Certifications and Licenses

OSHA-10 certification within one (1) week of hire; OSHA-30 certification within three (3) months of hire.
Valid Louisiana driver’s license with a clean driving record and current insurance.
First Aid / CPR certification (preferred).

Skills and Aptitudes

Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and complex power equipment, and to perform tasks requiring mechanical aptitude.
Delivers excellent customer service while working with diverse partners and customers.
Ability to adapt plans and remain flexible on short notice, and initiative to problem-solve independently.
General proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and digital reporting tools.
Strong work ethic and a genuine desire to work outdoors in challenging conditions.
Takes initiative to set their own work plan and schedule in order to reliably meet deadlines and provide thorough follow-through.
Establishes and fosters positive relationships and open, informative, and effective communication with diverse partners.
Provides clear communication and a high level of organization to all staff, including sound written and oral communication skills.
Commits to the advancement of underserved youth, including through staff development.
Demonstrates a high level of enthusiasm for the Green Corps mission and conveys it to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
