Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Brick and Block Mason to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and restoring structures using bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other building materials. Your expertise will contribute to high-quality projects across residential, commercial, and renovation sites, ensuring safety, precision, and durability in every task. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects that challenge your craftsmanship and technical skills while contributing to the creation of lasting structures.

Responsibilities

Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute masonry plans and specifications.
Build and install brickwork, blockwork, stone masonry, stucco, and related structures with precision using hand tools and power tools.
Prepare surfaces by applying mortar, caulking, plastering, or other finishing techniques to ensure smooth and durable results.
Install reinforcement bars (rebar) and perform concrete forming to support structural integrity during construction or restoration projects.
Construct masonry scaffolding safely around work areas for elevated or complex installations.
Operate heavy equipment as needed for lifting and positioning large materials or concrete components.
Follow all safety protocols diligently while working on construction sites to maintain a secure environment for yourself and colleagues.
Collaborate with carpenters, roofers, welders, and other tradespeople to coordinate building material installation and ensure project specifications are met efficiently.
Read and interpret construction plans and blueprints accurately to ensure all work aligns with project requirements.
Assist in renovation projects by restoring existing masonry structures or adapting new installations seamlessly into older buildings.

Skills

Extensive experience in concrete masonry work including bricklaying, stone masonry, stucco application, and mortar work.
Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings or schematics related to masonry projects.
Strong knowledge of construction estimating processes for material quantities and project timelines.
Skilled in the use of hand tools (trowels, chisels), power tools (drills, saws), and heavy equipment operation relevant to masonry tasks.
Ability to install building materials such as metal studs framing or wood trim as required for finishing touches.
Experience with rebar installation, concrete finishing techniques, and concrete forming processes.
Familiarity with safety protocols including scaffold building, working at heights, welding safety practices, and site hazard awareness.
Knowledge of renovation techniques involving restoration of historic masonry structures or updating existing buildings with modern materials.
Capable of interpreting technical drawings accurately while adhering to construction plans and schematics.
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively across trades for seamless project execution.
