Full Job Description

Job Title: Laboratory Associate - Specimen Processor
Industry/Segment: Veterinary Clinical Diagnostics
Location: Louisville, KY 40208
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday; 1st Shift: 7:30am - 4:00pm
Pay: $25/hr + Benefits: Med/Den/Vis, 401(k), Sick Time

Job Description:

You will receive, prepare, and accession veterinary samples (blood, urine, feces, and biopsies) for laboratory analysis and testing
Initially, you will be performing stripped-down parts of our overall process, including checking in couriers, unbagging, bar coding, moving samples around the lab (“running”), loading samples into analyzers, adding samples into centrifuges, swirling samples with a liquid chemical, and pulling samples from our refrigerated storage area
You can expect to remove specimens from transport bags and enter specimen data into a computer tracking system
You will rack and bundle prepared samples for delivery to each testing department
You will assist other lab personnel with specimen storage and ensuring that Turn Around Times (TAT's) are met
From day one, you'll have full autonomy in your work, but you'll also get full support when you need it
You will play a critical role as part of a successful team that is proud of the work they do and motivated by the common purpose in helping veterinarians quickly diagnose illness and disease in pets and animals
May transport hazardous waste within the facility and may occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) required
Experience and ability in a fast-paced, high-volume laboratory environment (ideally clinical lab specimen processor, accessioner, phlebotomist)
A willingness to work with and handle blood, urine, fecals and biopsies
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), material safety data sheets (MSDSs), operating and maintenance instructions, government rules and technical procedures
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently and as a team contributor
Strong initiative and attention to detail
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office & SAP preferred)
