Full Job Description

Human Resources Generalist

Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive administrative support across all Human Resources functions. This role is responsible for coordinating recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, employee relations, performance management, training, HR systems, and special projects while ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant HR operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition

Coordinate the full recruitment process, including maintaining job postings, updating job descriptions, assisting with compensation benchmarking, screening candidates, conducting phone interviews, scheduling interviews, preparing offer letters, coordinating background checks, drug screenings, and PeopleBest assessments, and maintaining recruiting records.

Onboarding & Offboarding

Coordinate all new hire and separation processes, including onboarding, orientation, employee files, payroll and HRIS setup, benefits enrollment, system access, and termination documentation while ensuring all required paperwork is completed accurately.

Employee Relations & Engagement

Serve as a primary HR contact for employee questions regarding payroll, PTO, benefits, policies, and general HR matters while maintaining confidentiality. Coordinate employee recognition programs, appreciation events, company celebrations, and other engagement initiatives.

Payroll, Benefits & HR Administration

Support weekly payroll processing by reviewing payroll, processing employee changes, maintaining personnel records, administering employee benefits, coordinating enrollments, qualifying life events, open enrollment, benefit carrier updates (including Gusto, Unum, and Aflac), and preparing HR reports.

Compliance & Recordkeeping

Maintain employee records, HR policies, and handbook updates while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Coordinate OSHA reporting, American Trust census reporting, audits, document retention, and other required compliance activities.

Performance Management

Administer the quarterly 5-5-5 performance review process, including preparing documentation, distributing forms, tracking completion, maintaining records, supporting annual performance reviews, and assisting with quarterly profit-sharing administration.

Training & Development

Coordinate internal and external training programs, maintain training records, administer TalentLMS and TalentCards, monitor required training completion, and support company-wide learning and development initiatives.

HR Systems & Reporting

Maintain employee data within Gusto, Ninety, and other HR systems; update organizational charts; prepare HR reports and metrics; perform routine data entry; and ensure employee information remains accurate across all platforms.

Grants & Special Projects

Assist with the administration of EDGE Grants, training grants, R&D tax credit documentation, payroll reporting, and other HR projects while supporting continuous process improvement initiatives.

General Administrative Support

Maintain HR filing systems, prepare employee communications and reports, coordinate meetings, order departmental supplies, support special projects, safeguard confidential information, and perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience

2–5 years of Human Resources or administrative experience preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Certifications

SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
High level of accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Working knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and payroll and benefits administration.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new HR systems.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects while providing exceptional customer service.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to move throughout the facility as needed and occasionally assist with employee events and training activities.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
