Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sequencing Lab Technician supports routine sequencing production workflows that may include Sanger sequencing, next-generation sequencing (NGS), nanopore sequencing, and other sequencing methods. This is a hands-on, process-driven role for someone with strong basic laboratory skills, careful attention to detail, and an interest in learning multiple sequencing workflows. Prior experience with a specific sequencing platform is helpful but not required.

WORKING HOURS:

The regular schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Work hours and days may be subject to change based on business and operational needs, and overtime may be required.

WORK LOCATION AND TRAINING:

This position is expected to be based in Louisville, Kentucky, with operations currently estimated to begin in September 2026. The timing is subject to change.
If hired before the Louisville location is ready, the employee may be required to complete initial training at another Quintara facility in Boston, MA, or Houston, Texas. The training location and duration will be determined based on operational needs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform routine DNA sequencing tasks, including sample preparation, library preparation, and operation of various sequencing instruments.
Conduct internal QC procedures such as DNA quantification and gel electrophoresis
Prepare reagents, buffers, and consumables according to laboratory protocols
Maintain and clean laboratory instruments and workspaces
Strictly follow established SOPs, safety guidelines, and quality standards to ensure data accuracy and reproducibility
Collaborate effectively with internal team members and cross-functional departments
Support sequencing operations on the assigned Tuesday through Saturday schedule and assist with overtime as operational needs require
Perform additional tasks and support projects as assigned by the manager

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate degree or higher in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field
At least 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience, preferably in a production or academic lab environment

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Laboratory Skills

Solid understanding of DNA sequencing technologies and bioinformatics principles, including sequencing workflows, data processing, and basic sequence analysis.
Strong hands-on technical skills and attention to detail
Familiarity with common lab equipment (centrifuge, spectrophotometer, pipettes, gel imager, incubator shaker, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word) for basic data entry and tracking

Professional Approach

Ensure accuracy and quality of work, with attention to detail
Meet deadlines and manage time effectively under pressure
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Willingness to work the assigned Tuesday through Saturday schedule and overtime as needed

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Report to: Louisville Site Manager
Works with: DNA Sequencing team, Project Manager, and cross-departmental collaborators (e.g., QC, Logistics)

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
