Full Job Description

Position Summary

Louisville Asset Building Coalition is seeking an organized, dependable, and community-focused Assistant Director to support its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and financial literacy programs. This position coordinates volunteers and tax sites, supports accurate tax preparation and electronic filing, and assists with program events, community outreach, partnerships, recordkeeping, and reporting.

The ideal candidate can manage multiple responsibilities, build positive relationships, maintain accurate records, and provide respectful service to individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, recognize, and support volunteers and site coordinators.
Coordinate volunteer coverage, site setup, equipment, supplies, schedules, and host-site logistics.
Maintain required volunteer records, agreements, assignments, service hours, and IRS certifications.
Serve as a VITA site coordinator during tax season as assigned.
Prepare, review, and electronically file accurate federal and state tax returns within IRS certification requirements.
Help clients identify applicable tax credits and financial products.
Connect clients with financial education and other financial stability resources.
Support financial literacy programs, tax events, community outreach, and volunteer activities.
Build relationships with clients, volunteers, site hosts, and community partners.
Represent LABC at meetings and community events as assigned.
Maintain accurate program records and prepare reports required by LABC, the IRS, funders, and community partners.
Protect confidential client information and provide courteous, respectful service.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

At least one year of experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit programming, tax preparation, community services, or a related field preferred.
Supervisory, customer service, community outreach, or event coordination experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience will be considered.
Strong organizational, communication, time-management, and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
Ability to maintain accurate records, protect confidential information, and meet deadlines.
Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, needs, and abilities.
Ability to complete all required IRS certifications before tax season.
Reliable transportation and occasional evening and weekend availability.
Ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
