Job Description – Neurodiagnostic / EEG Technologist
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Wednesday – Friday)
Schedule: 36 Hours/Week | 3 x 12-Hour Shifts
Position Summary
Facility is seeking a skilled Neurodiagnostic / EEG Technologist to join its Neurodiagnostic Services team. The Neurodiagnostic Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality electroencephalography (EEG) procedures in accordance with departmental policies, ASET standards, and established neurodiagnostic best practices. This role requires expertise in routine and advanced EEG testing, continuous EEG monitoring, patient assessment, and collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders.

Key Responsibilities
Routine & Advanced EEG Procedures
- Perform routine inpatient and outpatient EEG studies.
- Conduct prolonged EEG recordings, including brain death (ECS) evaluations.
- Perform long-term continuous EEG (cEEG) monitoring.
- Conduct outpatient event monitoring studies.
- Perform private video EEG (VEEG) recordings.
- Apply electrodes using the International 10-20 System, adapting placement based on individual patient anatomy and clinical needs.
- Ensure accurate electrode application, signal quality, and troubleshooting throughout testing.
Advanced Neurodiagnostic Monitoring
- Monitor patients undergoing continuous Video EEG (VEEG) in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).
- Observe EEG recordings in real time and accurately document clinical events.
- Evaluate patient activity during seizure or neurological events.
- Notify physicians, nurses, or rapid response teams of significant EEG findings or patient status changes.
- Assist with ictal SPECT monitoring by identifying seizure onset and coordinating with nursing and Nuclear Medicine staff for timely radiotracer administration.
- Perform EEG monitoring during WADA procedures in the Interventional Radiology suite.
- Perform intracarotid EEG recordings as indicated.
- Assist with pre-operative, intra-operative, and brain mapping EEG procedures.
Patient Care & Safety
- Maintain patient safety throughout all neurodiagnostic procedures.
- Monitor patients for seizure activity, falls, or other clinical events requiring intervention.
- Follow infection prevention and electrical safety standards during all testing.
- Identify and resolve technical issues including poor electrode connections, electrical interference, and recording artifacts.
- Ensure compliance with departmental protocols, hospital policies, and ASET standards.
Documentation & Communication
- Accurately document neurodiagnostic findings and patient events.
- Record observations during monitoring and communicate significant findings promptly.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient records.
- Collaborate effectively with neurologists, epileptologists, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Education & Professional Development
- Educate patients and families regarding EEG procedures and expectations.
- Assist in training and mentoring new staff as appropriate.
- Maintain competency through continuing education and professional development.
- Support departmental quality improvement initiatives.
Additional Neurodiagnostic Procedures
- Perform Evoked Potential studies.
- Perform Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEP).
- Assist with additional neurodiagnostic procedures as assigned.
Required QualificationsExperience
- Minimum one (1) year of Neurodiagnostic/EEG experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
- Experience performing routine and continuous EEG studies.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of neurodiagnostic testing principles and EEG procedures.

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Neurodiagnostic Technology program is preferred.
Required Certifications
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced Neurodiagnostic/EEG Technologist with strong expertise in routine and advanced EEG procedures, continuous video EEG monitoring, and seizure recognition. They possess excellent technical proficiency with the International 10-20 electrode placement system, demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and ASET standards, communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and thrive in a fast-paced pediatric hospital environment. Registration as an R.EEG.T. is highly preferred.
Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
