Full Job Description

Position Summary:

The Program Specialist acts as positive role model and facilitates the daily programming of the School Age Childcare Program serving girls ages 5-12.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in developing and maintaining a positive, equitable, accessible, safe, and supportive environment for program participants.

Facilitate programs in an engaging way that is grounded in a belief in girls' rights and abilities.
Plan for, set up, and facilitate activities for daily programs for girls ages 5-12 in after school, school vacation, or summer programs; to include engaging in enrichment and learning activities, assisting with homework help and preparing for snack time.
Actively assist with program related logistics; opening/closing of building, supervising children during unstructured time, supervising children at bus/van drop off, and utilizing behavior management techniques as needed.
Coordinate and supervise participants during field trips and special events.
Monitor caregiver drop-off/pick-up procedures as needed and assist in speaking to parents.
Attend staff meetings and training as required by Girls Inc. and Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).
Serve as liaison between staff, members, and families and handle disciplinary issues that arise; communicate any programmatic or staff concerns to management.
Attend special activities on weekends and/or evenings as needed, including but not limited to Open Houses and Board events.
Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must possess a High School Diploma and be at least 18 years old.
Must meet one of the following experience requirements:
At least 9 months of supervised work experience or;
At least 6 months of work experience with school aged children, with at least 3 of these months being supervised experience or;
At least 3 months supervised experience and a minimum of an Associate’s degree in any discipline or;
An Associate’s degree or higher in child development, ECE, Elementary Ed., or related field
Must have the ability to travel daily between site locations.
Must possess and maintain certification in First Aid/CPR (training will be provided by GIGL).
Proficient in Microsoft 365 Office suite applications.
Bi-lingual, Spanish/English preferred.

Must learn and perform the skills taught in First Aid and CPR. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Pay: $23,400.00 - $26,000.00 per year
