About the Role
BeWell Organic Medicine is seeking a Post-Harvest Lead to support the day-to-day operations of our Post-Harvest department at our Lowell production facility.
Reporting to the Post-Harvest Manager, the Post-Harvest Lead works alongside the Production team to produce compliant, high-quality, sale-ready cannabis inventory. This role is hands-on and includes processing, packaging, inventory management, quality control, documentation, team support, and maintaining compliance with Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission requirements and company procedures.
The Post-Harvest Lead will help guide the team through daily production activities while ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and according to established production plans and SOPs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support daily Post-Harvest processing and packaging activities.
- Perform post-harvest functions including bucking, grading, sorting, trimming, drying, curing, grinding, filling, packaging, labeling, storing, and handling cannabis products.
- Produce packaged cannabis products, including flower, concentrates, pre-rolls, and pre-ground flower.
- Support the Post-Harvest Manager in executing daily production schedules and priorities.
- Help train and supervise team members through designated processing and packaging activities.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure finished products meet company standards.
- Maintain accurate physical and virtual inventory records.
- Move cannabis inventory within applicable tracking systems, including Metrc and Dutchie.
- Assist with inventory audits and the tracking of products, materials, supplies, and packaging.
- Complete all required production and compliance documentation accurately and on time.
- Operate and maintain tools, equipment, hardware, software, and systems used in cannabis processing and packaging.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and contamination-control standards throughout production areas.
- Clean and sanitize production areas, tools, equipment, materials, and workspaces.
- Follow all company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety requirements, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and escalate production, quality control, equipment, inventory, or personnel issues as appropriate.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with Post-Harvest leadership and other members of the Production team.
- Complete all required training related to Post-Harvest activities, facility operations, safety, and compliance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Previous experience performing cannabis processing, post-harvest, packaging, or production activities preferred.
- Experience in the Massachusetts cannabis industry strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Metrc and Dutchie preferred.
- Experience using processing tools, equipment, hardware, software, and related production systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and help resolve issues related to production, quality control, equipment, inventory, and workflow.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and consistently.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to lead, train, and support team members through assigned processes and activities.
- Experience in commercial agriculture, consumer goods manufacturing, food production, or another highly regulated environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with applicable regulatory and safety standards, including Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission requirements, OSHA standards, and local requirements, is preferred.
- Must be able to successfully complete all required background checks and company training, including Responsible Vendor Training (RVT).
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand, sit, walk, stoop, bend, reach, crouch, grasp, cut, push, pull, and perform fine motor tasks for extended periods.
- Perform repetitive processing and packaging activities.
- Use cannabis processing tools and equipment throughout the workday.
- Work at a computer for periods of time.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds for distances of up to 100 feet, with or without assistance.
- Work in an environment with moderate noise and varying humidity and temperature levels.
- Work in an environment where cannabis plant material, cannabis dust, trichomes, and other cannabis-derived materials may be present.
