Job Overview

Join our dedicated team as a Correctional Officer and become a vital part of maintaining safety, security, and order within our correctional facility. In this dynamic role, you'll oversee inmate activities, enforce facility policies, and respond swiftly to emergencies. Your energetic approach and commitment to security will ensure a safe environment for staff, inmates, and visitors alike. This position offers an engaging opportunity to apply law enforcement principles, emergency response skills, and conflict management techniques in a challenging yet rewarding setting.

Duties

Monitor inmate behavior through CCTV surveillance and direct supervision to prevent disturbances and maintain order
Conduct regular patrols of the facility to ensure security protocols are upheld and identify potential hazards or security breaches
Respond promptly to emergencies such as medical incidents, altercations, or security threats using first aid, CPR, Taser, or self-defense techniques as needed
Write detailed incident reports, shift logs, and other documentation accurately reflecting daily activities and incidents
Enforce rules and regulations by supervising inmate activities, including work assignments and recreational periods
Manage conflict situations with effective conflict management strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment
Assist with manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting or restraining individuals when necessary while adhering to safety standards

Requirements

Proven experience or training in law enforcement, military service, or security roles is highly desirable
Knowledge of criminal justice policies, security procedures, and emergency response readiness
Ability to operate CCTV systems effectively for surveillance purposes
Certification in CPR, First Aid, Taser use, and self-defense techniques preferred
Strong report writing skills with attention to detail for documenting incidents accurately
Physical fitness to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely
Excellent conflict management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure and handle difficult situations professionally
