Full Job Description

<Job Summary>
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optical Optician, where you'll play a vital role in enhancing patients' vision and overall well-being. In this engaging position, you will assist customers in selecting the perfect eyewear, perform comprehensive eye measurements, and support clinical staff with various optical and medical procedures. Your expertise will ensure patients receive exceptional service while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. <Duties>

Assist patients in choosing eyewear that fits their prescription, lifestyle, and personal preferences, providing expert advice on frames, lenses, and coatings.
Take precise measurements for eyeglasses and contact lenses, including pupillary distance, frame fitting, and lens prescriptions.
Conduct basic eye assessments such as visual acuity tests, vital signs, and initial screenings to support clinical diagnosis.
Support ophthalmology or optometry staff with laboratory tasks including lens edging, frame adjustments, and quality control checks.
Maintain accurate medical records using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Epic or similar platforms, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.
Educate patients about proper eyewear care, contact lens hygiene, and general eye health practices.
Manage retail sales transactions efficiently while promoting additional products or services that meet patient needs.

<Skills>

Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy of the eye, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to eye care.
Experience with optical equipment such as lensometers, phoropters, and laboratory tools for lens fabrication and adjustments.
Familiarity with EMR systems like Epic or other healthcare software to document patient interactions accurately.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
Ability to perform basic medical assessments including vital signs and initial screenings for pediatrics and senior care populations.
Retail management skills including retail math, sales techniques, inventory control, and customer service excellence.
