Legal Assistant job summary

Our busy law firm is currently seeking a qualified applicant to fill the position of Legal Assistant. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for carrying out duties in a legal setting under the guidance of attorneys, including developing and organizing case information, providing clerical and administrative support, corresponding with clients and other legal personnel, and scheduling. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong work ethic, exceptional problem solving skills and is comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace.

Legal Assistant responsibilities

Meet with clients and other law firm personnel on the phone and in person to answer questions, gather information, schedule meetings, etc.
Transcribe, draft and edit correspondence and legal documents.
Schedule meetings and arrange conference rooms.
Maintain attorney’s calendar.
Input attorney billable time.
Prepare documents and notebooks for trial.
File documents with courts either manually or electronically.
Organize case files and maintain documents.
Complete administrative duties such as making copies, answering, and directing phone calls and greeting clients.
Coordinate appointments, including all correspondence and logistics necessary
Draft documents and letters from existing acquisitions using proper licensing templates
Manage legal documentation and correspondence in strict confidence
Correspond with counsel, court, and clients
Legal Assistant skills
3+ years’ working experience as a legal assistant
Knowledge of TABS
Advanced user with MS Office products such as Word, Outlook and Excel and WP
Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Professional
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Able to take direction and work independently with little or no supervision
Highly organized and detail-oriented
