Sunrise Canyon Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital is in search of compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Specialists.
Mental Health Specialists (MHS) provide direct nursing assistance to persons admitted to Sunrise Canyon Hospital. MHS staff work as members of the interdisciplinary team and are responsible for
- providing nursing assistant services,
- monitoring changing patient needs,
- communicating changes with team members,
- providing pre-crisis and crisis intervention and management,
- assisting in therapeutic groups and activities,
- assisting with discharge arrangements,
-
documenting in the medical record according to Hospital Policies and Procedures,
-
completing required documentation,
-
verbally communicating pertinent information to other trainers, nurses, supervisor, etc.,
-
assisting supervisor and other staff with special assignments and/or projects as needed.
Full Time Schedule: Day shifts 8am - 8pm; Night shifts - 8pm – 8am; (Shifts noted below)

Sunday – Tuesday plus every other Wednesday or
-
Thursday – Saturday plus every other Wednesday
Part-time (PRN) opportunities are also available.

Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED) with one year of related experience, preferred.

Certified Nurse’s Aide is preferred.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, be compassionate, and have a desire to help people who are struggling with mental illness.

Must be able to attend required training and work assigned schedule.
- Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, copier, fax, etc.,) and personal computer with Microsoft Office products is required.

Candidate must have a valid Texas driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and insurability under Agency insurance.

Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.

Medium Work: Involves frequently exerting 25 to 50 pounds at a time and occasionally exerting 50 to 100 pounds.

Refers to the ability to read printed and digital materials, observe details, and identify and distinguish colors accurately. These abilities are essential for tasks involving inspection, monitoring, or handling color-coded items or materials.

Refers to the ability to communicate effectively in English, including comprehending, interpreting, and conveying information through spoken, written and electronic means. It also includes the ability to hear and understand verbal communication in various settings, as well as the capacity to observe, count, and process numerical or symbolic information accurately.
Refers to the ability to observe, recognize, assess, interpret, categorize, reason, acknowledge, monitor and gather information to make informed decisions and take appropriate actions.
Work Environment Navigation and Adaptability
Refers to the ability to safely navigate and operate in environments where there may be ongoing activities, equipment, or other workplace conditions requiring awareness, adaptability, and attention. This role may involve working in proximity to moving parts, people, or processes, and requires the ability to manage tasks effectively within such dynamic settings.
