PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To assure the smooth operation of Mark Miller Construction, LLC (MMC) projects with attention to quality, detail and complete customer satisfaction. To ensure effective material handling, on the job safety, and to bring each MMC project to a timely and profitable completion. 5 years minimum proven experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Physical Ability: Physically fit and able to perform a wide variety of tasks in any weather condition. Able to commonly lift and carry up to 100 lbs. of lumber, equipment and other materials for up to 50 yards on rough uneven terrain. Worker must be able to work above 8’ heights. Language Skills: Good written and verbal communication in English
Reasoning Ability: Able to listen and follow directions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Expertly perform all phases of carpentry required to complete job.
- Production conscientious work habits. Materials are to be installed according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Proficiently and safely operate all hand tools, power tools and equipment required to produce job.
- Daily job site set up and dismantle, delegate to laborer, if appropriate.
o Determine what tools and equipment will be need for the day. If in doubt, consult Mark Miller or lead carpenter.
o Cords and hoses are to be fully extended and set up in a logical and safe manner. (Short distance – use short cords, long distance – use long cord).
o Verify truck, trailer and equipment is locked and secured.
- Demonstrate good communication with owner & customer as needed.
- Communicate with customer in a respectful manner, if needed.
- Refer all customer questions to company owner; keep track of them on paper & text with date & report immeadiatly.
- Keep track of job site paper work. * Save material receipts- with totals clearly written on them. *Save material instructions, warranties, etc., for MMC.
- Maintain all equipment, pack lumber & equipment, report needed repairs.
- Keep all tools, equipment and supplies neat and orderly.
- Maintain a clean job site – delegate to laborer, if appropriate.
- Separate job site waste; Reusable materials, remove old fasteners * Non burnable waste – plastic, green treat lumber * Recyclable waste – aluminum * Burnable waste–paper, cardboard & wood scrapes
- Utilize all material in the most profitable way. Use the appropriate fasteners for the job.
- Observe and correct any safety violations in regard to personnel or hazards.
- Ensure a completely clean job site upon completion of project.
- Inventory all tools & equipment upon completion of job. Keep tools clean & maintained.
GENERAL EMPLOYEE REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle to get to job site. * No drugs or alcohol on the job site.
- Must own basic carpentry tools: Tool belt is to be worn at all times, except when hauling materials.
- A carpenter tool belt, approved by company owner * Hammer *25’ tape measure * Utility knife *Screwdriver with multiple bits * 6” square * Chalk box * Nail sets *Wood chisel
- Neat appearance, courteous manner and respectful of customers, subcontractors and other workers.
- Paycheck- every two weeks
- Use of safety devises required, such as safety glasses, etc. Covid-19 protocols are to be followed.
- Cell phones are to be used only at break time for personal use. Exception: MMC communications.
- Company paid time starts when employee starts work at job site. If you are late to work, the time you actually start work needs to be accurately recorded on your time sheet.
- 15-minute break is at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm or when the lead carpenter informs you.
- Lunch break (30 minutes) is on your time, not paid company time. The amount of time taken for lunch break must be accurately recorded on your time sheet.
- Any problems, concerns and/or questions are to be reported immediately to the MMC Job Site Leader or Lead Carpenter.
- Loud radios, foul language is prohibited. When homeowner/visitor is at the job site, the radio is shut off.
- Smoking is only permitted in designated areas (at your vehicle) and only on break time. No smoking in buildings. Smokers are responsible for the safe & clean disposal of cigarettes, into your own vehicle.
- Personal visitors are not permitted on the job site, only in cases of emergency.
- Employees may not work directly (moonlight) for Mark Miller Construction LLC customers.
- Document daily hours – each day, on a time sheet, with job name and a brief description of work performed. Fill out completely & clearly. Also note any tool repairs, inventory and any problems.
- Daily communication through cell phone texting/photos is required. Electronic communication through e-mail.
- The assumed workday is: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Tardiness and absentee for work. Habitual tardiness will not be tolerated.
- Primary working in Burnett and Polk County, Wisconsin.
- Pay negotiable according to proven work quality.

Pay: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
