POSITION: TITLE EXAMINER
SUMMARY
This person reviews public records; makes a determination of ownership, other interests and encumbrances of record; and communicates findings, exceptions and requirements for the transaction. This position can also involve the typing of commitments and/or policies into a computer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Makes the determination ownership, other interests and encumbrances of record.
- Reads order application for customer specifications.
- Maps/Determines the legal description to be insured.
- Checks that tax information and tax legal descriptions are accurate.
- Analyzes data, records and writes up file using appropriate codes for typing OR inputs information directly into computer.
- Types title commitments and/or policies in the Softpro Computer Systems
- Communicates with the title examiner for discrepancies.
- Proofreads the typed data.
- Prints commitment/policy and invoice along with all necessary endorsements.
- Communicates with underwriters, customers, co-workers, manager and other related institutions, when necessary, to answer questions, solve problems or follow up on problem files.
- Assures the quality and accuracy of the company products.
- Properly utilize the tracking system in Softpro.
- Fax or e-mail title commitments to the customers.
- May be required to sign title products
- Other duties as requested by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant experience preferred
- Ability to collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to identify and solve problems and to deal with both abstract and concrete variables.
- Accurate typing skills of a minimum of 50 words per minute on a computer keyboard.
- Good organizational skills.
- Beneficial to have Resident Agent's license, but not mandatory for hire. May be required to acquire after hire.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Maintain high level of professionalism in dress and demeanor.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to remain flexible to changing schedules and demands.
- Proven organizational skills.
