We are seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically inclined Mailroom Inserter Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining our high-speed inserting machinery (such as SLS 3000 and Kansa). Your primary goal is to efficiently collate, insert, and package newspapers, advertisements, and promotional materials according to specific run sheets, ensuring accuracy and meeting tight delivery deadlines.
What Will I Be Doing?
- Machine Operation: Set up, operate high-speed inserting machines and auxiliary mailroom equipment (strappers, stackers, and conveyors) according to daily production specs.
- Quality & Accuracy Control: Monitor the machine during runs to ensure inserts (circulars, coupons, and special sections) are fed correctly, feeds are not doubled or missed, and final packages meet quality standards.
- Basic Troubleshooting: Perform quick, on-the-fly mechanical adjustments and clear jams to minimize machine downtime and keep production on schedule.
- Material Loading: Consistently load inserts, jackets, and hopper feeds with raw materials, keeping pace with the high speed of the equipment.
- Cleanliness & Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance (cleaning, dusting and maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Mailroom Lead and fellow crew members to coordinate changes, verify insert counts, and transition smoothly between jobs.
Do I Have What It Takes?
- Experience: 1+ years of experience operating high-speed packaging, inserting, or manufacturing machinery. Direct experience with mailroom inserting equipment is a major plus.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong hands-on skills with the ability to understand machine mechanics, read setup guides, and perform basic troubleshooting.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, bend, and reach for the duration of the shift, and comfortably lift bundles and materials weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Attention to Detail: High level of focus to spot printing errors, missing inserts, or machine feeding issues in a fast-moving environment.
- Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including night shifts.
