Full Job Description

Amaratek fills the niche as contract inventor and innovator across a broad spectrum of industries and applications by applying cross-disciplinary expertise in chemistry, life sciences, and engineering. Amaratek invents real-world solutions to the largest defense, health, and development problems. Recognizing that many of the skills and insights honed for military applications can also be applied to civil government projects where needs for reliable health systems, water, energy, and transportation mirror defense needs, Amaratek has provided technical services to foreign governments, NGOs, and social entrepreneurs. We remain focused on Defense and Homeland Security technologies and their extended applications in the commercial and other markets. Applicant must be a US citizen (no permanent residents or visa holders). Non-US citizens will automatically be rejected due to the nature of the work. Some travel will be required for this position to both foreign and domestic locations.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Junior Chemical Engineer to join our engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering who enjoys working both in the office and in a manufacturing or production environment.

The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of chemical engineering principles, practical mechanical aptitude, and foundational knowledge of polymer materials and processing. This role offers the opportunity to work on process improvement, equipment optimization, product development, and manufacturing support.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the design, operation, and optimization of chemical and manufacturing processes.
Support troubleshooting and maintenance of pumps, mixers, piping systems, reactors, and other process equipment.
Work closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to improve efficiency and product quality.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and cost-reduction projects.
Collect and analyze production data to identify opportunities for optimization.
Assist in developing and updating process documentation, operating procedures, and technical reports.
Support equipment installation, commissioning, and process validation.
Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering.
Recent graduate or up to 2 years of relevant experience.
Hands-on mechanical aptitude and an interest in working with industrial equipment.
Basic knowledge of polymer chemistry, polymer processing, or polymer materials.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
Familiarity with pumps, valves, heat exchangers, mixers, or process control systems.
Experience with CAD software, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or process simulation software is a plus.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles is desirable.
