Deliver assigned portions of the MPOETC Act 120 Basic Police Training Curriculum through classroom instruction, skills labs, and scenario‑based training; Deliver the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC)‑mandated curriculum for the Act 120 Basic Police Training Program, a 919‑hour certification course required for municipal police officers in Pennsylvania; Follow all MPOETC learning objectives, lesson plans, testing procedures, and performance benchmarks; Provide instruction in approved subject areas such as criminal law, patrol procedures, investigations, defensive tactics, firearms, EVOC, emergency response, human relations, and first aid, based on instructor certification; Assess cadet performance through written examinations, practical skills testing, and scenario evaluations using MPOETC‑approved rubrics; Maintain accurate attendance records, evaluation documentation, and instructional reports required for academy compliance; Support a safe, professional, and inclusive learning environment consistent with LCCC and PSTI policies; Participate in instructor meetings, curriculum updates, and required professional development or in-service training; Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism and ethical conduct aligned with Pennsylvania law enforcement standards.

Experience – Current MPOETC Instructor Approval in the relevant subject area(s) as defined under Title 53 §2162; or must become MPOETC-certified instructor within one (1) year of employment; Required prior law enforcement experience meeting MPOETC instructor eligibility requirements; previous teaching experience in a police academy or adult-learning environment preferred; Advanced or specialty instructor certifications (e.g., firearms master instructor, EVOC instructor, defensive tactics instructor);
- Skills – Demonstrated expertise in instructional discipline (e.g. firearms, EVOC, defensive tactics, criminal law); demonstrated communication, presentation, and classroom-management skills; Successfully complete any required background checks or employment screenings consistent with Act 120 training standards.
