Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Front Desk Team Member acts as the first face of our organization and maintains professionalism when interacting with patients, visitors, and co-workers. This individual will use communication skills along with multi-tasking to process patient & office needs.

This individual is cross trained to schedule patient appointments and to check in and discharge patients from their appointments. This individual is responsible for scheduling appointments, obtaining patient information, and verifying medical insurance information. He or she is able to check patients in and out of the clinic.

This individual maintains knowledge of and meets standards of confidential patient information. This professional uses the electronic health record system and demographic information for current & new patients, including referral patients, while evaluating physician schedules to organize appointments & answer patient questions.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Answer calls, as well as welcoming and assisting patients and visitors.
Schedule and confirm appointments, tests, treatments, and other procedures.
Obtain and update patients’ personal and health information.
Create and maintain electronic health records.
Assist patients with check-in process, including kiosk functionality, as needed.
Manage inquiries and relay messages about scheduling, referrals, and prescription refills.
Verify medical insurance information, as well as mediate between patients and medical insurers.
Collect co-payments from patients and following up on medical insurance claims, as needed.
Enter payment information into an electronic billing system.
Maintain an office supply inventory and replenish stock in a timely manner.
Maintain a knowledge of basic medical terminology and inventory management.
Maintain excellent organizational and communication skills.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent.

Experience:

Proficiency in integrated electronic health record and medical billing software, preferred.

At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferred.

Computer Skills: Ability to efficiently operate computers. Comfortable with Microsoft Office.
