Medical Office Front Desk (Contract Position) – Job Description

Job Title: Medical Office Front Desk (1099 position)

Job Type: 1099 position

Job Summary:
We are seeking a professional and organized Medical Office Front Desk Associate to provide administrative support in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will deliver excellent customer service, manage front office operations, and ensure a positive patient experience while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet and check in patients in a courteous and professional manner.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Process patient registration forms and required documentation.
Coordinate with providers, nurses, and other staff regarding patient flow.
Scan, file, and maintain confidential medical records.
Handle referrals, authorizations, and medical records requests as needed.
Ensure the reception area remains clean, organized, and welcoming.
Comply with HIPAA regulations and office policies.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification is a plus.
Experience with EMR/EHR systems preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.

Position Details:

Work schedule may vary depending on clinic needs.
Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
Frequent use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
