Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Healthy Living Coordinator II will assist the Associate Executive Director with the development and implementation of the safe and enjoyable Healthy Living Wellness Initiatives located at the YMCA on Old Forest Road. The Healthy Living Coordinator II will support respective supervisors with the marketing, development, and implementation of the Healthy Living activities, as well as keep them informed of plans, progress, and problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Interpret, communicate, and provide leadership of the YMCA mission, goals, and objectives to staff,
volunteers, members, and the community.
Assist with equipment maintenance through work orders, room cleanliness and ownership of space and
equipment.
Participate in member retention goals working closely with the Member Experience Coordinator II and
Association initiatives.
Lead Annual Campaign efforts at YMCA on Old Forest Road Branch.
Lead, develop and grow the Healthy Living Department at the YMCA on Old Forest Road to include: Group Fitness, Personal Training, Nutrition Coaching, Premier Programming, and general Wellness programming and management.
Handle day-to-day tasks/troubleshooting under the direction of the Associate Executive Director.
Schedule Wellness Coaching staff, Group Fitness staff, Personal Training staff, Premier Program staff,
and Nutrition Coaching staff and cover shifts as needed.
Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
Create and post a minimum of 4 social media content posts per week via YMCA of CVA channels and
procedures.
Maintain positive relationships with members and staff to develop a positive culture and community.
Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.
Utilize, develop and lead Healthy Living Lead staff to complete duties.
Understand, abide by, and enforce YMCA policies and procedures; explain positively and interpret
policies to members and staff; this includes policies related to medical and disciplinary situations, child
abuse prevention, and emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Four-year college degree in health and/or fitness related field and/or equivalent experience in related field is required.
Two years’ experience in a fitness-focused role to include fitness center experience, personal training, group fitness, community health, family fitness and other related programs.
Demonstrated experience in training and development of volunteers and staff.
YMCA Team Leader certification or ability to attain certification within three years of hire.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
High level of organization demonstrating sound judgement, initiative, and independent thinking.
Ability to develop short- and long-term plans.
Ability to effectively work/interact with diverse populations.
Computer literate. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and database management.
High ethical standards and strong personal and professional integrity. Ability to successfully
obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Current certification in personal training, group fitness, CrossFit or related field.
Experience with corporate health relationships and/or company partnerships.
Experience supervising multiple departments and staff in a fitness-related field.

Certifications Required:

Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
Before start of first shift: First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Emergency Oxygen
All YMCA required E-learnings with 30 days of hire.
All CECs and certifications are at the employee’s expense. The YMCA may not reimburse for these costs.

Failure to comply with any security and/or sensitivity related duties as defined in this section will result in disciplinary action which may include termination

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

HOURS: Mornings, Evenings and Weekends

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
