SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Buyer I is responsible for the purchasing tasks within its location. Manage different aspects of supplier products, inspecting quality and negotiating pricing while establishing relationships with suppliers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Reviews MRP for material requirements. Searches inventory records to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity and prepares purchase orders for purchase requirements.
2. Negotiates with suppliers to get optimal pricing, quality and delivery.
3. Enters and distributes purchase orders.
4. Communicates with suppliers concerning status of orders, pricing inquiries, order pushouts, and non-conforming products. Pursues corrective action.
5. Verifies availability of inventories for manufacturing requirements. Notifies affected personnel/departments of material shortages.
6. Works closely with internal departments on problem resolution and product change notification.
7. Maintains accurate inventories on established system, through pick slips, cycle counts, receivers, etc. Verifies inventory counts as needed.
8. Enters blanket purchase orders annually.
9. Develop strategic supplier relationships to move more materials to higher levels of supplier management including setting up Kan Bans and other improved stocking programs
10. Processes paperwork for product/material returns.
11. Enter data to maintain current information on parts and suppliers.
12. Generates spreadsheets to provide information on average usage, cycle counts, supplier performance, etc.
13. Works with Engineering to support NPD Process.
14. Manage resolution of problems with Receiving, Accounting, and Quality Departments.
15. Continually evaluate company needs and source new product streams, find new vendors, and develop procurement strategies as necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires a High school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of purchasing experience or equivalent education and or experience. Candidate must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, have knowledge of reading Material Requirements Planning (MRP), be self-motivated and flexible with work hours, have a strong work ethic, have a customer focused mindset, and Strong communication and interpersonal skills
