Unlike traditional design engineering roles focused on creating new products, Component Engineering is centered on understanding, evaluating, repairing, replacing, and improving the specialized equipment that keeps nuclear power plants operating. Every project presents unique technical challenges involving pressure-retaining components, structural assemblies, mechanical systems, and custom-engineered solutions that must meet some of the most rigorous engineering and quality standards in the world.

What You’ll Do Day-To-Day:
- Perform standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, resolution of field problems, and resolution of quality events.

Develop awareness of government regulations, organization, industry and customer engineering standards with support of senior staff.

Under a mentor’s guidance, evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications.

Support engineering projects involving repair and replacement of mechanical and structural components used in commercial nuclear power plants.

Develop technical evaluations and design documentation.
-
Prepare design drawings, assembly drawings, installation packages, and technical reports.
-
Assist in developing engineering work packages for plant outages and field implementation.

Learn and apply ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code requirements, and applicable ASTM material specifications
-
Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary project meetings.

Support manufacturing and fabrication by responding to technical questions and resolving fabrication issues.

Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, designers, quality personnel, manufacturing, and field services to deliver successful projects.

Perform engineering evaluations of existing plant equipment and recommend repair or replacement solutions.

Support field activities during outage installations as required.

Continuously develop technical knowledge through formal training, mentorship, and project experience.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Dependent on the position, degrees in Physics, Engineering Technology and Engineering Science may also be accepted.

Basic knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria.

Exposure to use of CAD modeling and computer programming skills.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Willingness to travel periodically to customer sites and nuclear power plants.

Engineering internship or cooperative education experience.

Exposure to CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar).

Familiarity with engineering calculations and finite element analysis.

Basic understanding of manufacturing or fabrication processes.

EIT/FE certification or the desire to obtain it.

Total Rewards Package
- Salary: $78,000 - $82,000, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
