Job Overview
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for managing EDM’s day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure efficient and consistent execution of production requirements. This role provides direct leadership and support to the manufacturing team, establishes clear priorities, and ensures production performance meets expectations for quality, delivery, and productivity.
The Manufacturing Manager is also a key people leader who sets the tone for communication, accountability, and team culture on the production floor. This leader must be highly visible, approachable, and consistent, with the ability to coach employees, resolve conflict, and develop a stable, engaged team.
The Manufacturing Manager is accountable for operational excellence through disciplined processes, Lean manufacturing practices, and continuous improvement. This role requires foresight and strong decision-making to anticipate constraints, prevent problems, and drive lasting solutions. This is a critical role within EDM and will require evaluating and improving how work is structured, supported, and executed across manufacturing and supporting functions.
Responsibilities
People Leadership and Team Development
- Lead with high emotional intelligence, clear communication, and consistent follow-through
- Coach employees through daily feedback, performance expectations, and accountability conversations
- Support onboarding, cross-training, and skill development to build a flexible, stable team
- Reinforce a respectful team culture aligned with EDM’s values and shared ownership mindset
- Recognize strong performance and address performance concerns promptly and professionally
Operational Leadership and Daily Execution
- Lead daily manufacturing operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals
- Set priorities and manage workflow by adjusting staffing, sequencing, and resources as needs change
- Maintain strong, consistent floor presence to monitor progress, remove barriers, and support real-time problem solving
- Ensure production readiness by confirming materials, documentation, tooling, and training are in place before work begins
Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement
- Drive Lean manufacturing practices including standard work, visual management, 5S, and waste reduction
- Establish and sustain a daily management rhythm that improves communication and execution consistency
- Track key performance indicators and lead actions that improve throughput, efficiency, and stability
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions to prevent repeat issues and strengthen processes
Quality Systems and Compliance
- Ensure manufacturing processes follow documented procedures and support ISO 9001 and ITAR requirements
- Partner with Quality to reduce defects, scrap, rework, and escapes while improving first-pass yield
- Reinforce workmanship expectations and support investigations and corrective actions as needed
Proactive Planning and Cross Functional Coordination
- Anticipate constraints and risks related to capacity, staffing, training, equipment, and materials
- Coordinate with Engineering, Materials, Planning, and Customer Solutions to align priorities and execution
- Support new product introductions and engineering changes by ensuring manufacturing readiness and clear communication
Structure, Role Clarity, and Accountability
- Evaluate workflows, handoffs, and ownership gaps that impact performance and responsiveness
- Recommend and implement role clarity improvements to strengthen accountability and execution
- Partner with leadership to redesign responsibilities across teams as needed to create a clear, functional structure

Qualifications
- 5 or more years of manufacturing leadership experience in a production environment
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience driving Lean improvements and improving daily execution
- Experience working within a quality system and enforcing standards
- Ability to lead directly on the floor in a high-mix environment
- Experience in electronics manufacturing a plus
