Emerald Coast Rheumatology is a leading rheumatology clinic located in Lynn Haven, Florida. The practice offers specialized diagnostic and therapeutic services, including infusion therapy, musculoskeletal ultrasonography, joint injections, and other ancillary procedures, dedicated to providing comprehensive care for patients with rheumatologic conditions.

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Insurance Verification Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and medical office operations. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, obtaining prior authorizations, and ensuring accurate documentation within electronic health records. Your efforts will directly contribute to seamless patient experiences and efficient clinic operations.

Responsibilities

Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other tools.
Obtain insurance authorizations and pre-certifications in compliance with managed care requirements.
Review and interpret health insurance policies, including CPT coding, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.
Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve coverage issues or discrepancies.
Maintain accurate documentation of verification activities within medical records while adhering to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure all necessary authorizations are secured before procedures or treatments.
Stay updated on changes in health insurance policies, coding regulations, and compliance standards relevant to medical billing and verification processes.

Qualifications

Proven experience in medical office administration or healthcare support roles with a focus on insurance verification.
Strong understanding of health insurance policies, managed care practices, and prior authorization procedures.
Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10), and medical billing processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic health records (EHR) management systems.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
Prior experience working in a rheumatology or specialty clinic setting is preferred but not required.
