The School
Jackson Walnut Park School is a faith-filled Montessori and K–6 elementary school sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, dedicated to nurturing the whole child, mind, heart, and spirit. Rooted in the Catholic tradition and guided by the mission to “love God, love learning, and love one another,” our school provides a welcoming and inclusive community where students are encouraged to grow through discovery-based learning, creativity, academic excellence, and compassionate service. The Position
Jackson Walnut Park School is seeking mission-driven Elementary Classroom Instructors (Grades K–6) who are called to nurture the intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of each child while fostering a classroom community rooted in respect, compassion, curiosity, and inclusion. Guided by the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, the educator serves as a proactive practitioner, inclusive instructor, collaborative creative, conscious communicator, and lifelong learner dedicated to the dignity and success of every student.
Working both independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and families, the Elementary Classroom Instructor designs engaging, student-centered learning experiences that inspire exploration, critical thinking, creativity, and joyful learning. Through differentiated instruction, culturally responsive practices, and interdisciplinary approaches, the educator integrates academic excellence with real-world connections and compassionate service.
The ideal candidate values the diversity of all people and intentionally creates a welcoming environment where students are encouraged to grow academically, develop confidence and agency, and build meaningful relationships with others. Instruction may align with the Common Core Standards, Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, Next Generation Science Standards, and/or PYP Frameworks, while supporting the school’s commitment to preparing lifelong learners who love God, love learning, and love one another without distinction.
Broad responsibilities include:
● Safety, Classroom Management, and Student Engagement
Ensure the safety of pupils by following school protocols.
Utilize student engagement and behavior management solutions conducive to student learning.
Incorporate students’ learning styles and preferences into lesson planning.
● Instructional Design and Delivery
Implement differentiated, culturally responsive methods to meet diverse student learning needs.
Provide continuous feedback on assignments, examinations, and projects to foster intellectual growth.
Set realistic and rigorous objectives for pupils' performance that align with JWP’s achievement and growth goals.
● JWP Administrative and Professional Responsibilities
Participate in whole school professional development and bi-weekly K-6 staff meetings.
Recordkeeping and monitoring of data trends.
On-time reporting of student performance to parents.
● Professional Development ○ Accepts feedback from administrators, colleagues, and parents, reflects on it, and makes adjustments to increase student growth and SEL, as well as professional growth.
Completes the annual self-assessment and pre- and post-observation feedback forms.
Plans for two PD days: one self-directed and one with the principal's input.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field required; Massachusetts teaching certification preferred.
· Minimum of three years of teaching experience preferred in a public, private, or accredited educational setting.
· Strong understanding of best practices in elementary instruction, classroom management, and differentiated learning.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven school community.
· Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
Additional qualifications that are considered a plus:
· Familiarity with:Wit & Wisdom (ELA curriculum), Wilson Foundations, Lexia Core5 Reading, enVision Mathematics
· Knowledge and implementation of best practices in student instruction and learning.
· Comfort with educational technology platforms, especially the Google Suite for Education
· A demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, model integrity, and consistently adhere to the school’s code of conduct and professional expectations
