We document the world's biggest construction projects in millimeter-accurate 3D. We're looking for a Laser Scanning Technician who can do both halves of the job well: capture clean, complete scan data in the field with Leica Geosystems hardware, then register and process that data into accurate, deliverable point clouds. A hands-on role combining field scanning and in-office registration. Leica scanning and registration experience strongly preferred.
What you'll actually do
- Plan and capture terrestrial laser scans on active construction sites using Leica Geosystems scanners (e.g., RTC360, BLK360, ScanStation series).
- Set up scan networks, targets, and control to ensure complete coverage and the accuracy each project requires.
- Register and process scan data into clean, accurate point clouds using Leica Cyclone / Cyclone REGISTER 360 (or equivalent registration software).
- Run quality checks on registration accuracy, coverage, and noise — and correct issues before delivery.
- Export and prepare registered deliverables (point clouds, RCP/RCS, E57, and related formats) for clients and downstream BIM/as-built workflows.
- Understand and navigate construction floor plans, and move through active jobsites safely while capturing high-quality data.
- Keep projects organized end to end, produce field reports, and maintain and care for scanning equipment.
- Coordinate with project teams and operations to hit capture schedules and delivery deadlines.
What you'll bring
- Hands-on experience with Leica Geosystems laser scanning hardware — capturing data in the field.
- Point cloud registration experience in Leica Cyclone / REGISTER 360 (or comparable tools such as FARO SCENE, ReCap), with a strong eye for accuracy.
- Understanding of scan setup, control, targets, and how capture decisions affect registration quality.
- Comfort on jobsites — weather, dust, noise, stairs, and lifting/carrying scanning equipment (up to ~35 lbs).
- Strong organization and self-management: you own your schedule and hold your work to a high standard.
- A valid driver's license, a clean record, and reliable transportation — you'll be on the road between sites.
- OSHA certified — or ready to become certified (we'll help).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfort learning new software quickly.
Bonus points (not required)
- Experience with point cloud to BIM / Scan-to-BIM, as-built documentation, or Autodesk ReCap / Revit workflows.
- Familiarity with other reality-capture platforms (FARO, NavVis, Matterport) or drone / UAV capture (Part 107 a plus).
- A survey, construction, engineering, or geomatics background.
- Experience with georeferencing, control networks, or total-station survey control.
