Full Job Description

First Midwest Group is a diversified organization with interests in commercial real estate, hospitality, senior living, self-storage, gaming, and property management. We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper to join our team and support the financial operations of multiple business entities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Working under general supervision, perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual bookkeeping functions, including processing cash receipts and daily bank deposits. Also process check runs, file checks and accounts payable invoices, perform bank reconciliations, process billings, prepare month-end general ledger reconciliations, and prepare real estate tax bills. Back-up accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reception, as requested. Duties include rather complex routine functions.

SUPERVISION:

Reports to and works under the general direction of Controller.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

View cash account activity online.
Code and process cash receipts in Sage PM or CM module.
Deposit tenant and other check payments to bank via remote deposit scanner.
File cash receipts, checks and vendor invoices on network.
Code and enter CAM, utility, loan and other invoices into Sage A/P module.
Process check run for invoices processed.
Process urgent invoice and payment requests.
Process and back up weekly cash file as needed.
Post cash transfers in Sage and in online banking portal weekly or as needed.
Code and process receipts for company credit card
Prepare bank reconciliations.
Cover reception during lunch as needed.
Prepare tenant utility billings, real estate tax bills for payment.
Invoice tenant share of pro-rata costs
Backup accounts payable and receivable.
Post and file general journal entries as requested.
Assist Lease administrator with Common Area Maintenance reconciliation reports.
Assist with preparation for tax and valuation as needed.
Collect 1098/1099 tax reports and save to network.
Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO or Controller.

Education and Qualifications

Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple entities and competing priorities
Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with multiple companies or business entities
Real estate, property management, hospitality, or senior living accounting experience
CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliation and billing experience is highly beneficial
Experience with lease accounting and tenant billing processes is a plus

Schedule:

Full-time Monday to Friday
