CQT Weapon Systems is seeking an experienced Lead Gunsmith / Senior Armorer to lead firearm assembly, diagnostics, custom fitting, testing, repair, and quality control operations. This position is intended for a highly skilled gunsmith with extensive hands-on experience working with AR-platform rifles, striker-fired pistols, traditional double-action/single-action pistols, and precision bolt-action rifle systems.
This is not an entry-level armorer position. We are looking for a firearm professional who understands weapon systems from the inside out and can diagnose functional issues, perform precision fitting, oversee assembly operations, and mentor technicians while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality.
Position Summary
The Lead Gunsmith / Senior Armorer serves as the technical authority for firearm assembly, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and product improvement. This role works closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and leadership teams to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and customer expectations.
The ideal candidate has experience building, diagnosing, and tuning a wide variety of firearm platforms and can confidently move between production assembly, custom gunsmithing, armorer functions, and technical problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities Gunsmithing & Assembly
- Build complete firearm systems from components and subassemblies
- Verify headspace and critical dimensions where applicable
- Install and fit barrels, triggers, optics, stocks, chassis systems, and accessories
- Perform detailed assembly inspections
- Conduct final fit, function, and quality verification
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose reliability and function issues
- Identify root causes of malfunctions
- Evaluate feeding, extraction, ignition, cycling, and accuracy-related issues
- Troubleshoot mechanical and assembly-related defects
- Support product improvement initiatives
Precision Rifle Operations
- Assemble and configure precision bolt-action rifle systems
- Verify action, chassis, and component fitment
- Install and align optics systems
- Support precision rifle testing and validation
Armorer Operations
- Perform repairs and maintenance
- Evaluate returned products
- Conduct warranty inspections
- Document findings and corrective actions
- Support continuous improvement efforts
Leadership & Training
- Lead assembly and armorer personnel
- Develop assembly standards and work instructions
- Train technicians and new hires
- Establish quality checkpoints and best practices
- Promote a culture of craftsmanship and accountability
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years professional gunsmithing, armorer, or firearms manufacturing experience
- Extensive experience with AR-platform rifles
- Experience working on striker-fired pistol systems
- Experience working on DA/SA pistol platforms
- Experience with precision bolt-action rifles
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Gunsmith from a major Gunsmith School
- Certified armorer certifications from major manufacturers
- Military or law enforcement armorer experience
- Precision rifle building experience
- Trigger fitting and tuning experience
- Experience conducting firearm testing and evaluation
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with ProShop ERP or similar systems
- Leadership or supervisory experience

Pay: $26.01 - $31.33 per hour
