Human Resources Generalist

Organization: All Well-Being Services (AWBS)

We are seeking a knowledgeable, organized, and people focused Human Resources Generalist to support the day to day operations of our Human Resources department.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist will provide support across a variety of Human Resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, employee records, policy implementation, training coordination, and employee engagement.

This position will work closely with the HR Manager and organizational leadership to ensure employees receive timely and professional HR support while helping AWBS maintain effective and compliant Human Resources practices.

The ideal candidate is approachable, highly organized, detail oriented, and able to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.

Essential ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & Hiring

● Assist with the recruitment and hiring process for open positions.

● Post and maintain job advertisements.

● Review applications and assist with candidate screening.

● Coordinate interviews with candidates and hiring managers.

● Communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process.

● Assist with preparing offer letters and other pre employment documentation.

● Support the development and maintenance of job descriptions.

Onboarding & Employee Records

● Coordinate new employee onboarding activities.

● Prepare onboarding materials and ensure required employment documentation is completed.

● Assist new employees with navigating organizational policies, procedures, and expectations.

● Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files.

● Assist with employee status changes, promotions, transfers, and other personnel updates.

● Support employee offboarding processes, including exit documentation and interviews.

Employee Relations & HR Support

● Serve as a resource for employees regarding general HR policies, procedures, and workplace questions.

● Provide guidance and support to employees while escalating complex concerns to the HR Manager or appropriate leadership.

● Assist with documenting employee concerns and maintaining appropriate records.

● Support employee relations processes, workplace investigations, and conflict-resolution efforts as assigned.

● Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment when handling employee information.

Performance Management

● Track evaluation deadlines and follow up with supervisors as needed.

● Support documentation related to employee coaching and performance improvement.

Policies & Compliance

● Assist with implementing and maintaining HR policies and procedures.

● Help ensure employee records and documentation are maintained in accordance with organizational requirements.

● Support compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

● Assist with HR audits and documentation reviews.

● Stay informed of HR best practices and employment related changes.

Training & Employee Development

● Assist with coordinating employee training and professional development opportunities.

● Maintain training records and monitor completion of required training.

● Support employee orientation and ongoing training initiatives.

● Assist with employee engagement and recognition activities.

● Support internal career development and employee mobility initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

● Assist with HR reporting and data tracking.

● Maintain HR calendars, deadlines, and employee related documentation.

● Support employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture initiatives.

● Participate in HR projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.

● Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

● Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field; relevant professional experience may be considered in place of a degree where appropriate.

● Minimum of 2–4 years of Human Resources or related experience.

● Knowledge of general Human Resources practices, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management.

● Strong organizational and time management skills.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

● Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

● Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.

● Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

● Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR information systems.

Preferred Qualifications

● Professional HR certification, such as SHRM-CP or PHR.

● Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, nonprofit, or human services settings.

● Experience with applicant tracking systems and employee record management.

● Knowledge of federal and Michigan employment laws and regulations.
