Our practice offers a comprehensive range of treatments, from corrective lenses to advanced surgical procedures, routine eye care, glasses, and contact lenses ensuring the highest quality of patient care.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ophthalmology and medical office procedures, with a passion for delivering outstanding patient service. In this role, you will assist with ophthalmic examinations, operate specialized medical equipment, and support clinical workflows to ensure efficient and compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

Perform ophthalmic patient examinations, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure (tonometry), and conducting A-scan biometry for accurate eye measurements.
Assist physicians during examinations and procedures while maintaining strict adherence to aseptic techniques and clinical confidentiality policies.
Collect and document patient intake information, vital signs, and medical history accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms.
Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment, including tonometers, OCT machines, and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools to facilitate comprehensive assessments.
Provide direct patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring a comfortable experience for patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
Maintain medical records meticulously in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and assisting with retail sales of optical products when necessary.

Qualifications

Prior experience in ophthalmology or medical office settings is required; familiarity with clinic workflows is advantageous.
Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health and physiology is essential for accurate documentation and communication.
Proficiency in operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as OCT, A-scan devices and tonometers is required. Ability to do refracting also.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or similar platforms is necessary for managing patient information efficiently.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to protect patient privacy.
Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse populations, including pediatrics is helpful.
