Kumho Tire Georgia is seeking a Quality Engineer to support customer quality, manufacturing quality, and continuous improvement activities. This position works closely with automotive customers, Production, Engineering, Quality, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns, improve manufacturing processes, and ensure products meet customer and company requirements.
The Quality Engineer is responsible for customer quality support, quality management, problem-solving, and continuous improvement within an automotive manufacturing environment.
This position investigates customer complaints and internal quality concerns, coordinates containment and corrective actions, prepares 8D reports, monitors quality performance, and supports automotive quality requirements including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and Control Plans.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and cross-functional manufacturing teams.

Serve as a quality contact for Original Equipment (OE/OEM) automotive customers and provide timely responses to customer quality concerns.

Investigate customer complaints, product defects, and internal manufacturing quality issues.

Lead structured problem-solving activities involving containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions (CAPA).

Develop and submit 8D problem-solving reports and other customer-required quality documentation.

Coordinate immediate containment activities to protect customers and prevent the shipment of potentially nonconforming products.

Monitor and analyze quality performance indicators, including PPM, scrap, defects, warranty concerns, and other quality metrics.

Identify quality trends and develop improvement plans to reduce defects, scrap, customer complaints, and recurring quality issues.

Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements.

Develop, review, and maintain FMEAs, Control Plans, SPC documentation, MSA studies, and other automotive quality records.

Conduct manufacturing process audits and product quality audits to verify compliance with established quality standards and customer requirements.

Partner with Production and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing process capability, process stability, and product quality.

Support customer visits, customer audits, quality reviews, and technical meetings.

Communicate quality performance, corrective actions, and improvement plans to customers and internal leadership.

Coordinate with suppliers regarding quality concerns and corrective actions when required.

Maintain accurate quality records, reports, specifications, and supporting documentation in accordance with company and customer requirements.

Promote continuous improvement, defect prevention, quality awareness, and root cause problem-solving throughout the organization.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred.

Previous experience in quality engineering, customer quality, manufacturing quality, or automotive manufacturing preferred.

Experience supporting Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM/OE) customers is preferred.

Knowledge of automotive quality systems and quality management principles.

Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem-solving.

Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, containment, and continuous improvement preferred.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate manufacturing and quality data.

This position works in a combination of office and active manufacturing environments. The Quality Engineer will regularly interact with production operations while investigating quality concerns, conducting audits, reviewing manufacturing processes, and implementing corrective actions.
The manufacturing facility is not fully climate controlled, and time spent in production areas may involve exposure to seasonal temperatures, including Georgia heat and humidity, as well as noise, industrial equipment, and other conditions associated with tire manufacturing.
Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when entering designated manufacturing areas.
Occasional travel to customer facilities, supplier locations, quality meetings, or other business locations may be required.
