Technical Customer Support Specialist – SCADA Systems

Location: Madera, California (On-site)
Department: Customer Success & Technical Operations
Reports To: Technical Operations Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

About Farm Data Systems

Farm Data Systems delivers SCADA-based irrigation and fertigation solutions that help growers use water, nutrients, and energy more efficiently. Our integrated hardware, wireless communications, and software platform enables customers to remotely monitor and automate critical farming operations.

Position Summary

We’re looking for a customer-focused Technical Customer Support Specialist who enjoys building relationships, solving technical challenges, and helping customers maximize the value of their automation systems.

This is a proactive, outbound technical support role. Rather than simply responding to support tickets, you’ll regularly engage with customers, monitor system health, identify opportunities for improvement, provide technical guidance, and ensure every customer is confident using their Farm Data Systems solution. You’ll also support new deployments, customer onboarding, and work closely with Engineering and Operations to continuously improve the customer experience.

Customer Support & Relationship Management

· Build long-term relationships with growers, irrigators, and field personnel.

· Conduct proactive customer check-ins and system reviews.

· Train customers on daily SCADA operation and best practices.

· Increase customer adoption of new features and capabilities.

· Gather customer feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.

Proactive Technical Support

· Monitor customer systems, alarms, and communications for potential issues.

· Contact customers before small issues become major problems whenever possible.

· Troubleshoot sensors, controllers, radios, communications, and field devices.

· Guide customers through diagnostics and corrective actions.

· Escalate complex issues to Engineering with detailed documentation.

System Deployment & Customer Onboarding

· Assist with configuration and commissioning of new SCADA systems.

· Support field installations and equipment startup.

· Lead customer onboarding and operational training.

· Verify system performance and complete deployment documentation.

Continuous Improvement

· Maintain accurate customer records and system documentation.

· Create troubleshooting guides and knowledge base articles.

· Share technical knowledge with internal teams.

· Recommend improvements that enhance customer satisfaction and system reliability.

QualificationsRequired

· 2–4 years of experience in technical support, SCADA, industrial automation, or customer success.

· Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

· Experience with PLCs, RTUs, sensors, VFDs, or industrial control systems.

· Excellent communication and customer service skills.

· Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Valid California driver’s license.

Preferred

· Ignition SCADA experience.

· Knowledge of Modbus, MQTT, LoRaWAN, or cellular telemetry.

· Agricultural irrigation or fertigation experience.

· Experience with Zoho Desk, Jira, ClickUp, or similar support platforms.

· Bilingual English/Spanish.
