Job Description: Regional Coordinator
The focus of this position is student success as an integral component of workforce development and community well-being. To accomplish this, the position provides coordinated wrap-around services for students, prospective students, apprentices and their families. The position also builds and nurtures relationships with key stakeholders and collaborates with education and business partners throughout the region served by Ivy Tech Community College (Madison, IN).
45% Provide support services to students including connection to government and private programs and benefits for which they may be eligible, development of life skills necessary for self-sufficiency, and referral to supportive services as needed for crisis intervention. Provide and coordinate services to address barriers to classroom/work performance and promote coursework completion. Liaise with FSH Response Center to ensure students’ needs are fully addressed and identify trends and gaps in services. Maintain up-to-date care management records and case notes for all students and individuals served and documented all community activities.
35% Liaise with Ivy Tech Community College staff and faculty to provide cohesive student advocacy. This includes collaboration with Student Support Services and other on campus groups such as Ivy Cares, IvyAchieves, Trio, Disability Support and more. Also, collaborating with local industries and employers regarding existing and new opportunities, maximizing partnerships, increasing outreach to available apprentices across the region and supporting the development of new career pathways for Ivy Tech students.
10% Maintain knowledge of community social service resources including those that provide SNAP (Food Stamps), TANF, Childcare subsidies, subsidized housing programs, emergency financial assistance, utility bill assistance, healthcare and Medicaid, and mental health counseling for the benefit of students. Build and maintain knowledge of community educational resources including admissions, financial aid, registration, and related academic processes at the institutions. Complete all FSH professional development.
10% Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree.
Good interpersonal and communication skills and strong organizational skills.
Valid Driver’s license.
Previous experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access type databases.
Familiarity and comfort with technology, both current and emerging applications.
Knowledge of and ability to utilize the Internet and e-mail.
