POSITION SUMMARY

The Die Repair Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting aluminum die cast tooling to ensure optimal performance, part quality, and production efficiency within a high-volume die casting environment. This role performs preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and corrective repairs on dies, including addressing wear, damage, and dimensional issues that impact casting integrity and downstream machining processes.

The Die Repair Technician works closely with die casting, machining, engineering, and quality teams to identify root causes of tooling-related defects, implement improvements, and support continuous production uptime. This position plays a critical role in extending die life, reducing scrap, and ensuring components meet tight tolerances and customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform routine maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of aluminum die casting dies and related tooling.
Diagnose die-related issues including flash, solder, porosity, dimensional concerns, and premature wear.
Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble dies according to established procedures and specifications.
Perform polishing, fitting, spotting, grinding, welding, and bench work on dies and tooling components.
Utilize precision measuring instruments to verify tooling dimensions and tolerances.
Support die changeovers and production troubleshooting activities as required.
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to identify and implement tooling improvements.
Complete preventive maintenance activities to extend die life and improve performance.
Document repairs, maintenance activities, and tooling modifications accurately.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement related to die performance, cycle time, and quality.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis.

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Strong mechanical background
Knowledge of die casting and how a casting die operates preferred.

Pay: Up to $45.00 per hour
