Payroll & Benefit Specialist

This Payroll & Benefits Specialist role offers the opportunity to join a highly respected community organization that is deeply rooted in the Madison area. Salary: $70,000 – $80,000

Culture: Highly collaborative, cross‑functional team environment with strong internal relationships

Key Responsibilities of the Payroll & Benefits Specialist Role:

Process full‑cycle payroll for 170+ employees through Paylocity, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, and related offerings
Manage benefits within a self‑funded health plan structure, including tracking and reconciling payments
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, including complex questions related to HSA, FSA, and insurance coverage
Maintain and manage relationships with external benefits vendors, including health insurance providers
Lead the annual open enrollment process through the HRIS system
Partner with HR and leadership to ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and reporting requirements

Requirements for the Payroll & Benefits Specialist Role:

5+ years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
Hands‑on experience with Paylocity HRIS strongly preferred
Experience managing vendor relationships and navigating benefit platforms
Strong understanding of payroll compliance and benefit plan administration
