Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager - Fitness to oversee the daily operations of our fitness facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a passion for health and wellness. This role involves managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and driving business growth through effective management strategies. The General Manager will be responsible for maintaining a motivating environment that promotes member satisfaction and operational excellence.

Duties

Lead and supervise all aspects of the fitness center, including staff management, customer service, and facility operations.
Develop and implement strategic plans to increase membership and revenue.
Oversee employee recruitment, onboarding, training & development, and performance evaluations.
Manage inventory control, purchasing, and merchandising of fitness equipment and retail products.
Handle budgeting, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and financial reporting to ensure profitability.
Coordinate marketing initiatives to promote the facility’s services and special programs.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, health regulations, and company policies.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer satisfaction through effective shift management.
Utilize POS systems for sales transactions, cash handling, and retail sales management.
Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals, updates, and training opportunities.
Monitor store management activities including pricing strategies, stock levels, and inventory management.

Skills

SALES. You should be able to walk in on day one & close over 50% of the leads you sit down to meet with.
LEADERSHIP. You should be a first-one-in, last-one-out leader. You should be able to hold weekly 1 on 1 meeting, and weekly staff meetings, hold staff accountable, & lead your team to business growth. (Must be a strong & confident leader who can handle the pressure of this big-time role.)
FINANCE. You need to have the ability to manage the facility P&L. You will meet with ownership monthly to review your budget vs what actually happened line item by line item.
Proven management experience in retail or fitness environments with supervisory responsibilities.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a positive work environment.
Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
Proficiency in employee orientation, interviewing, recruiting, training & development.
Experience with payroll processing, bookkeeping, inventory management, POS systems, and cash handling.
Knowledge of retail math, sales management, pricing strategies, merchandising, stock management & marketing.
Ability to handle budgeting tasks effectively while maintaining organizational efficiency.
Strong customer service orientation with excellent phone etiquette and organizational skills.
Competence in using wireless sales tools and administrative software for operational tasks.
Time management skills with a focus on team management and operational oversight.
