Pay: $19.50/hour

First Shift (Days), 5:00am–1:00pm (early start time required)
Fully Onsite

About the Role

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll do meaningful work that helps enable our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a Sample Coordinator within PPD® Laboratory Services, you will support laboratory operations by performing a wide range of sample and standard handling activities while ensuring compliance with GMP, SOPs, and regulatory requirements. Your attention to quality, accuracy, and safety directly contributes to improving patient health outcomes across global clinical research programs.

Key Responsibilities

Perform sample and standard handling tasks including receipt, check‑in, login, labeling, launching, inventory management, transport, check‑out, physical return, and disposal of materials
Follow established SOPs and respond to laboratory staff requests with minimal direction
Communicate sample and standard status clearly to appropriate laboratory personnel
Guide and advise laboratory staff on proper sample and standard handling procedures
Assist laboratory staff in implementing and following required sample handling processes
Complete investigation and deviation documentation and determine appropriate CAPAs when required
Review laboratory requests and provide feedback to ensure compliance with applicable SOPs
Train on SOPs, regulatory guidelines, and sample storage requirements
Respond to environmental unit alarms and participate in on‑call responsibilities
Perform all work accurately, safely, and within required timelines

Environment

Laboratory setting with adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) safety standards
Use of PPE required, including safety glasses, gloves, gowning, lab coat, and ear plugs
Exposure to potentially hazardous elements, including infectious agents found in laboratory or healthcare environments
May work in non‑traditional work environments with rare exposure to fluctuating or extreme temperatures
Able to stand or remain upright for typical working hours
Able to lift and move objects weighing 15–40 pounds
Able to perform under pressure while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks
Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology

Qualifications

High School Diploma / GED plus 2+ years of relevant experience, OR
Associate’s Degree with 0+ years of experience
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and directly related experience will be considered
Basic knowledge of inventory flow and control
Knowledge of laboratory and regulatory requirements, including documentation and sample storage
Ability to write and review SOPs and process improvement documentation
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Effective time management, project management, and problem‑solving abilities
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
