Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Intern to support the accounting and finance team with daily accounting operations, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, payroll-related activities, month-end close, year-end preparation, cash management, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting. This internship provides hands-on experience applying accounting principles within a professional healthcare organization.

What You’ll Do

Assist with researching and processing invoices using Sage software.
Prepare and assist with daily bank reconciliations for two partnerships.
Investigate and resolve outstanding or unusual bank reconciliation items.
Review account activity and identify discrepancies.
Research and process patient refunds using EPIC.
Pull, review, and document daily banking transactions.
Assist with Positive Pay transactions, cash bags, cash-handling activities, and check deposits.
Generate physician pay stubs following draw and distribution processing.
Update production reports and provide reports to physicians following draw and distribution.
Assist with preparing and posting recurring and non-recurring journal entries, including payroll, insurance, physician draw and distribution, retirement accounts, rent, management fees, and other month-end entries.
Review general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness.
Assist with account reconciliations, supporting schedules, month-end close, 1099 preparation, year-end close, and audit-related requests.

What We’re Looking For

Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Strong interest in accounting and financial operations.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and the general ledger.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Comfortable working with Excel and learning accounting software.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling payroll, banking, and financial information.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
