The River Food Pantry Program Coordinator| Madison, WI
The River is South Central Wisconsin’s busiest food pantry. Our services include free groceries for pick up or delivery, to-go meals, online grocery orders, mobile meals, and after-hours food lockers. We are seeking an organized and customer-focused ePantry & Food NOW Coordinator (internal title) to lead and manage our online grocery program (ePantry) and after-hour locker program (Food NOW), assist with the annual gift program and support our Access and Pantry programs as needed. This position serves as a liaison for all ePantry and Food NOW clients and supervises all aspects of orders, communication, inventory, and distribution of goods.
In the full-time, on-site ePantry & Food NOW Coordinator role, you will contribute through these responsibilities:
- Comply with and ensure food is stored according to pantry, state, and federal food guidelines, practicing FEFO (First Expired, First Out).
- Clear communication with clients to understand specific needs and provide satisfactory services.
- Maintain pantry and warehouse site sanitation that meets or exceeds government and monitoring agency’s standards.
- Manage product inventory, order necessary product, and track monthly expenses to ensure budgetary compliance.
- Manage and maintain the on-site food locker program, Food NOW, to include equipment maintenance, ensure food is stocked, and timely client communication.
- Support the other organizational programs as requested.
- Collaborate with internal staff and community partners for the organization and coordination of the gift program.
- Drive The River’s cargo van to deliver products as needed, in a safe manner while obeying federal, state, and local traffic laws.
- Data entry and management within the CRM system.
- Train, lead, and support volunteers in their assigned work.
- Produce necessary reports required by supervisor, donors, and government agencies.
- Create and track benchmarks of the program’s success and make recommendations for improvement.
- Communicate effectively and calmly with volunteers and clients if disputes arise.
- Adhere to all safety and hygiene regulations and practices of The River.
- Operate equipment (e.g., dolly, pallet jacks) in a safe manner in compliance with established policies and procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 1+ years of experience in customer/client service role is required.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and 3+ years of driving experience is required.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Experience leading others is preferred.
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM is preferred.
- Multilingual is preferred.
- Commitment and passion for The River’s mission, vision and goals.
- Regular and timely attendance.
- Demonstrated strong technological skills including database management.
- Demonstrated logistical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to apply basic math skills in daily work.
