Full Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for payroll, regulatory submissions, and financial analysis projects.

MISSION STATEMENT

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages payroll workload. Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner.
Act as administrator of payroll softoware including management of employee information.

Collaborates effectively with Human Resources.
Processes and remits benefit deductions within payroll system and with third party vendors (insurance, FSA, 403(b), etc.).
Prepares and/or submits reports for compliance requirements.
Prepares payroll journal entries and reconciles correlating general ledger accounts.
Monitors accuracy and timeliness of payroll service provider tax filings, wage attachments, and garnishments.
Assists in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures and payroll-related training.

Contribute to special projects and create efficiencies through automation.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of payroll functions and general accounting principles.
Accurate and detail oriented.
Demonstrate organizational and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
Willingness to learn and implement new software and automation
Ability to handle confidential information.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to collaborate and foster teamwork to support Oakwood’s mission.
Exercise professional judgment and work with minimal supervision.
Information management skills and problem-solving skills.
Ability to share constructive feedback.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING

Associate or Bachelors degree in Accounting with 7+ years relevant experience.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other data applications; advanced Excel skills preferred.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
