The Valley Pivot Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and service of Valley center pivot irrigation systems and related agricultural irrigation equipment. This position works directly with agricultural customers to ensure irrigation systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably throughout the irrigation season. The technician must possess strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills while providing exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Install new Valley center pivot and linear irrigation systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and communication issues on Valley and other center pivot irrigation systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance, seasonal start-ups, inspections, and winterization of pivot systems.
- Troubleshoot control panels, motors, gearboxes, drive lines, collectors, alignment systems, safety circuits, and end guns.
- Replace gearboxes, motors, tires, driveline components, sprinkler packages, regulators, drops, boots, and other system components.
- Configure and troubleshoot AgSense®, ICON, ICON Link, BaseStation3, GPS positioning, remote monitoring, and telemetry systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Test electrical circuits using multimeters and diagnostic equipment.
- Assist with pump station installations, variable frequency drives (VFDs), filtration systems, and related agricultural irrigation equipment.
- Operate service trucks, trailers, lifts, trenchers, skid steers, and other equipment safely.
- Complete accurate work orders, service reports, time records, and parts documentation.
- Communicate repair recommendations and maintenance needs with customers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional service vehicle.
- Participate in manufacturer training and continuing education.
- Follow all OSHA, company, and customer safety policies.
- Participate in an on-call rotation during irrigation season as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience with Valley center pivot irrigation systems preferred.
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience required.
- Ability to read electrical diagrams and use electrical testing equipment.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Agricultural irrigation or pump experience preferred.
- Basic computer and smartphone proficiency.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Climb pivot towers and ladders.
- Walk uneven terrain and work in muddy, dusty, or wet conditions.
- Frequently kneel, bend, crawl, and work overhead.
- Work outdoors in hot, cold, windy, and rainy conditions.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.

Work Schedule
This is a full-time position. Extended hours, overtime, and weekend work are expected during peak irrigation season. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
