The Maggie Valley Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau (herein referred to as the MV
Chamber) is the energizing and vitalizing force of the community. It seeks to unite all of
the tourism, commercial, governmental, industrial, religious, educational and civic
interests for concerted action in supporting those activities which are
broader than any single business or industry, but which promote the welfare of the area
and county as a whole.
Primary Function:
Oversees and directs all aspects of developing and maintaining a
working partnership of business and professional people and their interest in the area and
county. Responsible for the administration, budget and promotion of chamber activities,
events, and Visitor Center operations.
Job Description:
- Oversee and direct the MV Chamber/Visitors Bureau’s operations, membership, personnel, and all other programs.
- Develops and implements the budget and coordinates all financial operations and disbursements of the MV Chamber for the Board of Directors and CertifiedPublic Accountant.
- Formulates policies, objectives and goals for the effective operation of the MVChamber within the established guidelines.
- Maintains and updates all MV Chamber policies, procedures and files accordingto established guidelines.
- Develop and administer the annual marketing plan in conjunction with the Boardof Directors.
- Develops and coordinates plans to promote Maggie Valley as a visitor destination; creating new tourist programs and publicizing the existing tourist attractions.
- Responsible for all aspects of MV Chamber sponsored events and festivals including procuring sponsors, advertising, set up, staffing, coordination, public relations, clean up and evaluation.
- Coordinates, supervises, motivates, evaluates, determines and is responsible for all work priorities for assigned personnel and volunteers.
- Coordinates the efforts of commerce, tourism, industry and the professions in maintaining and strengthening a sound and healthy business climate in Maggie Valley.
- Provides creative business leadership and effective coordination of all interested parties in solving community problems and initiating constructive community action.
- Reports to the MV Chamber Board of Directors on a monthly basis. Gives updates to the Town of Maggie Valley and other community and county entities as needed.
Pay: $35,000.00 - $37,000.00 per year
