About the Role
You'll work directly alongside the owner, learning every aspect of the business—from installation and customer service to estimating and job planning.
Initially, you'll focus on installing custom garage storage lofts while learning our construction methods and quality standards. As your skills and responsibilities grow, you'll begin leading projects, training installers, meeting with homeowners, preparing estimates, and helping improve the systems that keep the business running.
Our long-term goal is to build a company that operates through strong people and great systems—not one that depends on the owner being on every jobsite.
Responsibilities
- Lead installation of custom garage storage lofts from layout through final completion.
- Read and interpret construction plans, layout drawings, and structural details.
- Frame platforms, beams, stairs, railings, and other structural components.
- Evaluate unique garage conditions and determine practical framing solutions.
- Maintain exceptional craftsmanship and jobsite safety.
- Lead, train, and mentor installation helpers.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners before, during, and after installation.
- Keep projects organized, efficient, and on schedule.
- Ensure every project meets Lofty Ideas' quality standards before completion.
- Prepare materials, tools, and hardware for upcoming projects.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and inventory.
- Measure garages and prepare customer estimates after training.
- Identify opportunities to improve installation efficiency, quality, and company systems.
- Help document and improve installation procedures as the company grows.
QualificationsRequired
- 2+ years of residential framing or carpentry experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Strong work ethic and pride in quality craftsmanship.
- Comfortable working independently and making good decisions.
- Leadership potential and a desire to grow.
- Professional communication skills with customers.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred
- Deck installation experience.
- Crew leadership experience.
- Stair framing experience.
- Residential remodeling experience.
- Estimating or project management experience.
- Experience training apprentices or helpers.
Physical Requirements
- Regular lifting of materials weighing 75–100 lbs.
- Occasional team lifting of engineered beams and oversized materials.
- Comfortable working from ladders throughout the day.
- Ability to climb, bend, kneel, reach overhead, and perform physically demanding work in residential garages.
Schedule
Our typical schedule averages four installation days per week.
When we're not installing, we spend time preparing for upcoming projects, organizing materials, maintaining equipment, improving installation systems, meeting with customers, and preparing estimates.
Our goal is to provide stable, year-round work while continuing to grow the business.
Compensation & Benefits
- $27.00–$34.00 per hour, depending on experience, leadership ability, and demonstrated growth.

Travel Policy: Employees are responsible for the first 30 minutes of travel each way to and from the jobsite, similar to a normal commute. Travel exceeding 30 minutes each direction is paid at the employee's regular hourly rate.
