Overview
Role and Responsibilities Responsible for the safe and accurate mixing of chemicals and raw materials used to produce adhesive cement for manufacturing operations. The Cement Mix Operator is responsible for measuring and combining chemical ingredients according to established formulas, operating mixing equipment, handling chemical drums and containers, maintaining batch records, monitoring product quality, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental procedures. The operator will also be responsible for staging materials, transporting chemicals throughout the facility, and supporting production demands while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications, Education, Requirements
- High school diploma / GED or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Manufacturing, chemical processing, or production experience preferred
- Ability to accurately follow formulas, work instructions, and safety procedures
- Ability to read, understand, and complete production documentation
- Experience handling chemicals and hazardous materials preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
- Ability to safely operate drum handling equipment, dollies, and material handling devices
- Basic math skills required for measuring, weighing, and mixing materials
- Forklift certification or experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Physical Demands The physical requirements of persons in this position classification are:
- Regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials weighing 50 pounds or more
- Frequently maneuver chemical drums, containers, and material handling dollies throughout the work area
- Regular use of hands and arms for lifting, pouring, measuring, and mixing chemical ingredients
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching during work shifts
- Manual dexterity required to operate mixing equipment, valves, pumps, and related tools
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, aprons, and safety glasses
- Visual ability to read labels, formulas, gauges, and production documents accurately
Work Environment This position is performed in a manufacturing and chemical processing environment. The Cement Mix Operator will regularly work with chemicals, solvents, adhesives, and other raw materials used in the production process. Employees may be exposed to fumes, vapors, airborne particles, and varying temperatures. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times as required by company safety policies. Safety glasses are required, and respirators may be required when handling specific chemicals or performing designated mixing operations. Housekeeping, safe material handling practices, and compliance with all environmental and safety regulations are essential functions of this position.
