KENNEL SUPERVISOR Magnolia, TX | Dog Rescue & Animal Welfare

We’re looking for a hands-on Kennel Supervisor to lead our dog rescue facility in Magnolia, TX. This is an opportunity for an experienced animal-care professional, rescue worker, veterinary professional, kennel lead, shelter worker, or similar animal-care expert who is ready to take the next step into leadership.
This is not a desk job. You’ll lead a small kennel team while remaining actively involved in the daily care, handling, enrichment and wellbeing of our dogs.WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead, support, train and schedule our kennel staff
- Oversee daily kennel operations and workflow
- Ensure dogs receive excellent care, cleanliness, safety, exercise and enrichment
- Work directly with dogs of all breeds, sizes and temperaments
- Help make decisions regarding individual dogs’ care and wellbeing
- Train and mentor staff in proper animal-care practices
- Interview and hire kennel staff as needed
- Communicate regularly with leadership, volunteers and partners
- Keep the facility operating safely, efficiently and compassionately
- Step in and get your hands dirty when the WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Our ideal candidate has substantial hands-on experience working with animals and understands the realities of rescue and kennel life.
Strong candidates may come from:
- Dog rescue or shelter operations
- Kennel or boarding facilities
- Veterinary medicine or veterinary technician work
- Animal control or humane organizations
- Dog training or behavior
- Animal welfare organizations
- Other hands-on animal-care environments
Experience working with dogs is strongly preferred. Veterinary/medical knowledge is a major plus.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A natural leader who knows how to motivate and support a team
- Calm, dependable and confident in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable handling dogs of different breeds, sizes and temperaments
- Organized and able to make good decisions when situations change quickly
- Comfortable communicating with staff, volunteers and leadership
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Facebook Messenger and animal-rescue software/systems
- Able to spend at least 75% of the workday on your feet
- Able to perform physical kennel work and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
- Passionate about animal rescue and committed to improving the lives of dogs
EXPERIENCE
Preferred: 5+ years of kennel, veterinary, animal-care, shelter or rescue experience, including supervisory/lead experience.
Also considered: Candidates with 10+ years of strong management/supervisory experience who also enjoys working with animals & is comfortable in said atmosphere.
SCHEDULE
Our facility operates 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. The Supervisor will need to remain connected and available to guide the team when needed.
